Million American Jobs Act
This short video presents a compelling argument for how purchasing a small amount of additional Made in USA products has a large impact on driving job creation, without waiting for the companies and politicians to act! We have refined the video’s calculation of number of jobs created Here is a simpler calculation:
- US mfg. employment is about 12 million
- Consumption, including industrial consumption, is about 30% higher than production, based on the $500 billion trade deficit, thus about 16 million jobs.
- Increasing Made in USA purchases by 1% of total consumption would thus add about 160,000 manufacturing jobs, not 1 million. Not including industrial consumption would cut the total to about 100,000 jobs. That would still be great to have!
